Our OpinionMontréal is a lively and interesting mix of French and English influences in a Canadian setting. Montréal is a friendly and charming place and the locals are always in for a chat. With 3 million inhabitants, Montréal is the second largest Canadian city after Toronto. Situated in the province of Quebec, at the mouth of the St. Lawrence River, Montréal is both a major port and a financial centre. It's also a centre for the arts. The city is situated on an island, but there are bridges connecting all sides to the mainland, which reinforces the impression of not being an island at all. Two thirds of the population are French, making it the largest French speaking city outside Paris. The mix between old and new and the "joie de vivre" make the city particularly attractive. French culture prevails giving the city a European tinge. There are many French restaurants and nightlife is great. Old Montréal, the oldest section of the city, is definitively worth a visit. Narrow, streets with small restaurants, squares and churches are scattered all over the place and the waterfront is always near. The city also has an excellent metro system, which makes it easy to go wherever you want to go by public transport.
Our SchoolThe Vis-à-Vis partner school in Montréal was founded in 1962 and offers the possibility to study both French and English. The school is located in downtown Montréal, between stunning Mount Royal Park and historic Old Montréal. The school is easily reached using public transport. The teachers are excellent and highly motivated, their lessons are lively and dynamic and they have a lot of experience in teaching French as a foreign language. |
