Introduction

Bordered by a sandy beach, next to the Mediterranean's largest yachting harbour with incredible numbers of cultural activities and performance Antibes is a typical Riviera resort. The old part of the town has retained its natural beauty with its ancient castle and arched protective wall. There are plenty of little windy streets packed with interesting shops from general stores to souvenir shops. Then just the other side of the city, in striking contrast to the old town, you will find the built-up modern areas of Antibes, although not quite as cultural, it does offer the visitor a lively nightlife and some of the most beautiful sandy beaches of the region.

Information

The tourist office can be found at 11 Place General de Gaulle. Here the staff are very friendly and will give you a free map of the region. Jean les Pins the home of the Vis-Vis partner school is about 15 minutes walking distance from Antibes city centre, it has its own tourist board in Blvd Guillamount.

Getting Around

Antibes is easy to get around by foot but bikes can be hired from Boulevard Wilson in the city centre. Bus numbers 43, 93 and 103 connect Jean les pins and Antibes city centre. There are also regular train services to other costal resorts of Southern France.

Eating and Drinking

For eating out and nightlife you will not be disappointed as both Jean les Pins and Antibes city centre are crammed full of Bistros, pizza restaurants, bars and nighclubs for you to sample. You can hear classical music, jazz, techno or "dance". You can go out for a quiet stroll or a raving wild atmosphere. Also Antibes Juan-les-Pins host an extraordinary variety of shows, events and attractions, Throughout the year, Antibes Juan-les-Pins is the scene for a tale from the Arabian nights. The main nightspot is Place Nationale in Jean les Pins, a square full of pubs and cafes to suit all tastes.

Don't Miss

Antibes castle, it is quite a climb to get to it but once you are there the views of Antibes are breathtaking. Visit the Cours Masséna, home to an extremley charming market and and a bustling cafe scene. Antibes Cathedral is an interesting place of interest due to its ancient Romanesque Tower. Discover the Mercantour National Park, just 70 km distant, with its fascinating and wholly protected flora and fauna (including ibex, mouflons, chamois, royal eagles and even wolves). The Vallée des Montagnes is one of the most fascinating mountain sites in Europe. If you there when its not so hot, the famous ski resorts of Auron and Isola 2000 are only 100 km away. Despite standing on the shores of the Mediterranean, Antibes is within a short distance of the Alps offering you delightful excursions for winter sports with Antibes as a base:
